Official IC Awareness Month VideoOkay my IC friends! It's time to stand up, speak out and raise awareness for IC in YOUR communities. If you've ever been frustrated with a lack of knowledge or compassion about IC, this is your chance to make a difference! This years compaign is all about sharing our IC stories and we've got several ways that you can participate and receive prizes too, including creating posters and videos, a first EVER tweet campaign to help share how IC really makes us feel every day, Facebook badges and timeline images, Pinterest, press releases, proclamations and so much more!!! #4 - SPREAD THE WORD

IC Awareness Month Facebook BadgeShare ICAWARENESS.ORG with all of your friends and colleagues on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Add our timeline photo and badge for the month! Pin our posters & videos! Write a story for your blog or “what’s on your mind statement.” Every day in September, add our IC Daily Fact.

#5 - PUT POSTERS UP

IC Awareness Month 2012 PosterPost your own or our official IC Awareness Poster! You can print, reproduce and post ours in your support groups, doctor offices, libraries, restrooms! It’s 8/5 by 11 and will print easily on a normal sheet of computer paper!
Full Size & Best Print Resolution: Print your own copy from a pdf file here! http://www.icawareness.org/2012poster.pdf

#6 - ASK FOR A PROCLAMATION

IC Awareness Month ProclamationDownload our proclamation and ask your city council, county board of supervisors, State Assembly or Senators and US Senate or Congressmen to honor IC Awareness Month by issuing a proclamation.

#7 – IC SUPPORT HELPS!

IC SupportIf there is no support group in your area, consider starting a new group to provide support and build friendships among patients who often feel very isolated and alone. Yes, it takes time and effort but it can change lives for the better.

If you’re in a support group, ask them to participate in IC Awareness Month. They should have a meeting in September and, if possible, send a press release out to the local paper promoting your group and the meeting date.

#6 - GET THE PRESS INVOLVED

Send a press release to your local and regional paper, asking if they would do a story about IC and IC Awareness Month. The press love local stories. Share a few paragraphs about your life with IC in your community, as well as any obstacles you have faced with finding doctors, getting pain care and/or the public perception of bladder diseases.

#7 - MAKE A DONATION

Donate some IC books to your local library. You can purchase any books in the ICN Shop and designate a library that you would like us to send it to. Ask about health conferences in your community and see if you can provide a booth on IC and pelvic pain.

#8 - HELP AN IC'ER

Reach out to your IC friends who are housebound. Call them and ask if they need any help. Bring support to their home, along with some IC friendly foods and companionship.
Spread the word about drug assistance programs to friends who are having trouble paying for medications.

Please keep me informed so that I can add your videos, posters and news on our website. Sending an email to: info@icawareness.org or jill@ic-network.com
